Each Life That Touches Ours For Good

Last week, we lost our dear Aunt Dot. Aunt Dot is actually my GREAT aunt, but we always just called her Aunt Dot. She was a very special lady. Always kind and loving. Always giving and uplifting. She will definitely be missed.

Aunt Dot always gave the best presents. I wish I had a picture of every birthday outfit I received. Sadly, I only have the one above. This was probably the best of the outfits. A lime green pant suit. I was a freshman in college. I love Aunt Dot. :)

Aunt Dot was a faithful lady. She and Uncle Ray went to Catholic Mass every Saturday when they lived in Arizona. Sometimes we would meet up with them afterwards for lunch/dinner at one of her favorite restaurants: either Coco's or The Elephant Bar. After they moved to Denver for extra care, we were able to visit them a few times. And lucky for her, there was an Elephant Bar there, too!

Our closing song in Sacrament Meeting was meant for me today. Here are the words:

Each life that touches ours for good

Reflects thine own great mercy, Lord;

Thou sendest blessings from above

Thru words and deeds of those who love.

 

What greater gift dost thou bestow,

What greater goodness can we know

Than Christlike friends, whose gentle ways

Strengthen our faith, enrich our days.

 

When such a friend from us departs,

We hold forever in our hearts

A sweet and hallowed memory,

Bringing us nearer, Lord, to thee.

 

For worthy friends whose lives proclaim

I am grateful for a Heavenly Home where I know Aunt Dot is now. Surrounded by loved ones lost before, including my grandma, her sister. I am excited for the opportunity Aunt Dot now has to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. She always told us if she were younger, she'd be baptized. Little did she know, it's still a possibility! :)
