Inside Recess

I've been trying really hard this week to be grateful for inside recess. Because of this cooooold weather in Utah, we have not been allowed to have the kids outside. So from 7:50 am until 3:30 pm I have been surrounded by my wonderful students who I love dearly, but who are BUNDLES of energy and need to be outside to run all that energy out. Needless to say, it's been a long and tiring week.

Today I found a reason to be grateful for inside recesses. It was lunch/recess and I was trying to eat my lunch with 23 noisy and crazy kids in my classroom. I have a little mailbox by my desk for the kids to put notes or whatever they want in for me. They love to put the red flag up and say "Miss Sucher, you have mail!" They especially love to try to sneak by and put it in without me seeing. At the end of recess today the red flag was up so I of course looked in to see what was there. It was stuffed with notes from the kids. Some just pictures, some letters, some just saying Merry Christmas.

It reminded me that I am thankful for inside recess. I love my students. I love seeing them learn, but I also love seeing them be friends and play. I love seeing them be so thoughtful and loving. Inside recess is great, but I think I'm about done for the week of them. :)

  2. Oh Janae (or is it Jenna?) so happy to find your blog, but maybe someday we'll have to throw aside these electronic forms of communication and have a little face to face time.
